| The most important “How-To”
of NetWeaving involves HOSTING meetings to introduce two people to each
other. These hosting meetings can either be done ‘in-person’
where the NetWeaver/Moderator/Host is present; or it can be made ‘virtually’
where the NetWeaver/Host sets up the meeting, usually over the telephone
and/or internet, but is not present at the meeting. |
| As with any process, it always works
best if there is a system involved, both to help you easily set up the meetings,
and perhaps even more importantly, a tickler system that prods you to check
back on the hosting meetings you set up to see what has come from them. |
| This is important for a couple reasons.
First, by being reminded to follow up, you may find out that a ‘virtual’
hosting meeting you set up between two persons didn’t actually occur
because one of the parties had a conflict and they had to postpone. Sometimes,
just reminding them to reschedule it when you discover their meeting didn’t
take place, will conserve a valuable connection. You will get double the
credit if it turns out super-successful as they often do. Without a tickler
reminder to you, you might not have checked back. |
| Secondly, by formalizing the connection
process using this system, you will find it easier to track outcomes from
your hosting meetings later on. Not following back up on connections which
you make for the benefit of others is often the reason some person’s
NetWeaving doesn’t come back around to benefit them. It’s a
flaw of human nature that when someone makes a connection for our benefit,
we tend to take ownership of the new connection. |
| Without a follow up call to see how
the meeting went, one or both of the persons connected may forget who brought
the two of you together. |
| How It Works: |
- Register yourself and create
a short profile and inter.
- Enter a short list of people
you know who would benefit from knowing each other.
- Using the Matchmaker tool, select
to two people you would like to matchup. An email is sent to both receipts
from you making the introduction.
- An e-mail log is generated to
allow for easy followup.
